Strike called off by Plywood Industry on assurance of support - Ply Reporter

According to latest reports from Yamuna Nagar the strike called by AIPMA, HPMA, PPMA, UPPMA and other states has been called off. The states participating in the strike and protest for reducing GST from 28% to 18% and dissolving of Mandi Tax have ended it on the assurance of support from respective authorities in different states.

The strike led by All India Plywood Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) along with its various wings in Haryana, Punjab, UP and other states begun the protest since 14th July and has ended on 17th July 2017. All the states Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Delhi, MP, Uttarakhand, Bihar & South India states supported the protest & closure, even for a day, have displayed unity for the cause of bringing GST slab to 18% on Plywood. 

AIPMA conveyed that the effort will continue by presenting their points to PMO, GST committee & other State authorities till they convince them with the genuine needs. AIPMA requested all state associations and members including traders associations to speed up sending their memorandams with facts and figures. 

In matter of Mandi Tax, the Government of Haryana Hon'ble Agriculture Minister Shri Om Prakash Dhankhad firmly assured to consider to grant relief in Mandi tax and urged to call off the state strike. Speaking about this, President of Haryana Plywood Manufacturers Association, Ajay Maniktahla said yesterday, "Today, the 17th July 2017, the Govt of Haryana  Hon'ble Agriculture Minister Shri Om Prakash Dhankhad has given us firm assurance in the presence of Sh. Karan Dev ji, Sh. Kanwar Pal Ji, Sh. Gain Chand Gupta Ji, Sh. Shyam Rana ji , Sh. Ghanshyam Arora ji to consider to grant relief in Mandi Samity matter and urged urged our Association to call off the  strike. Consequently,  the Governing body of the Haryana Plywood Mfrs' Association had discussed and decided to call off the ongoing strike with immediate effect."
