Q. After successful North India Operation, you have expanded your manufacturing in Southern India. What are the reasons, what is the capacity of southern India Plants?
After establishing a strong and trusted presence across North India, expanding to Southern India was a strategic decision for Magnus. This move was driven by three key factors:
1. Proximity to Growing Markets:
South India, with its booming infrastructure, real estate, and furniture sectors, represents a high-potential market. Setting up local manufacturing units helps us serve customers faster, more efficiently, and at lower logistical costs.
2. Access to Raw Materials & Port Connectivity:
Karnataka provides better access to timber from nearby regions and ports, enabling smoother procurement and export potential — especially for our specialized and industrial-grade products.
3. National Scale & Service Excellence:
With plants now in both the North and South, Magnus is able to offer pan-India service with uniform quality, faster delivery, and reduced supply chain dependency — a major advantage for large contractors, OEMs, and institutional buyers.
We currently operate 1 manufacturing facilities in Mangalore (Karnataka). The plant has production capacity of approximately 50,000 CBM per annum, contributing significantly to our overall monthly capacity of 2,00,000 CBM per annum.
Q. Timber availability is serious concern of plywood manufacturing, what is your take?
Timber availability is one of the most pressing challenges facing the plywood industry today. At Magnus, we believe this issue requires both strategic planning and long-term commitment from manufacturers, policymakers, and the forestry ecosystem.
In the wake of limited timber availability, we adopt diversified Sourcing Strategywith a network of certified timber suppliers across India, Southeast Asia and Africa to ensure consistent availability of raw material. Besides, we invest in in-house treatment and grading processes in order torealize maximum yield and usability from every log — reducing wastage and optimizing input efficiency.
Magnus is committed toResponsible Manufacturing through sustainable practices and optimized resource utilization across all plants. From recovery tracking to resin efficiency and energy optimization, we are investing in reducing our overall environmental impact. We actively support the use of fast-growing plantation species like Eucalyptus and Poplar, which can be cultivated sustainably and harvested in shorter cycles.
Calling for policy support, we also urge government support in the form of afforestation initiatives, agro-forestry promotion, and easing timber import regulations. We are actively engaged in discussions to advocate for such policies.
Timber scarcity is a challenge — but with the right mix of technology, policy, and sustainability, we believe the industry can not only survive but thrive responsibly.
