Imported Core Veneers Bring Relief to Plywood Units

The Plywood units based in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, UP had felt huge pressure on raw materials availability for its core veneers, due to high prices of timber and interrupted supply chain.

The arrival of core veneers from Vietnam, Tanzania, Laos, Uganda, Brazil, Nepal etc. have been supported to improve the supply of raw materials to the Plywood industries. The Plywood Industries based in Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh are majorly using imported core veneers. These Core Veneers have reached Plywood factories located in North India such as Punjab, Haryana, UP, UT and Bihar.

The increasing supply of imported core veneers is helping Plywood units which are a relief for industries for now.

After a long phase of dullness and viable timber options for veneering, the scenario has turned positive for Plywood units, where they have been managing the input of raw materials, which prices have gone up domestically. The Plywood units based in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, UP had felt huge pressure on raw materials availability for its core veneers, due to high prices of timber and interrupted supply chain. Even Plywood manufacturing units based in Kelara, Mangalore are exploring the opportunity of import due to high price local veneers.

With imported timber becoming viable and availability of core veneer options for making plywood and doors, the port-based panel industries are back in speed and production. According to industry ground reports, Kandla, Chennai, Mangalore, Vizag, Kolkata port based Plywood units have started receiving a good amount of Eucalyptus and Pine logs from Uruguay, Brazil, Australia, Argentina etc. Besides, a good volume of imported Core Veneers from Vietnam, Tanzania, Brazil etc is also reaching them.

Industry views that the world timber market is looking towards India, there is good time for Plywood units in India.
