Tuesday, 02 December 2025

Growing demand for Acrylic laminate has been supporting domestic producers to bring new designs and innovation. India has one dozen Acrylic Laminate manufacturing establishments, who are producing good quality products as per customer’s requirements. Recently four new units have commenced production of Acrylic Laminates in North India, which complete extrusion lines, as per report 3 more units are setting up in North India, which will commence its production very soon. Gujarat has the highest number of Acrylic Laminates manufacturing units reaching more than half dozen.

Mr Jitu Panchotia, Crystla Acrylic Laminate, a Morbi based unit, says that the Indian producers have a variety of innovation with high quality products, and our service is our strength, Morbi alone has half a dozen of Arcylic Laminates manufacturing units.

The product has noticed the huge acceptance of Interior application in Sheet and Boards both forms. The Ply Reporter’s recent survey indicates that there is a craze among retailers to keep acrylic laminates folders of different brands, because it gives a good profit margin to them. The showroom owners are keeping a certain area to display acrylic sheets. The study finds that gradually this product has reached tier 2 cities counters, which has mainly sold to big and metro cities just a year back.

With approx. 100 folders in the Indian Laminate market of Acrylic, the demand for acrylic laminate has improved INDIA’S ACRYLIC LAMINATE DEMAND SUPPORTING DOMESTIC PLAYERS at a fast pace in the surface decor panel segment. Seeing the surge in demand, a number of players ventured into acrylic laminate manufacturing and trading.

According to The Ply Reporter market feedback during field surveys, around 50 new folders of acrylic laminate have been introduced in the last 6 months. The scenario in Acrylic lam segment is hotting up as numbers of arrivals and launches are swelling up signalling a piling up of oversupply as happening in louvers and rafter’s segment.

The experts in this segment said to the Ply Reporter, that if any product moves forward, its supply increases with acceptance in the market. As a result of the rising demand, importers and many domestic players concentrated on it, causing the supply to increase and the extra cushion of margin shrink.

It is to be noted that acrylic sheets are available in different thicknesses in the market ranging from 1 mm to 2 mm. The OEM segment relies mainly on the 2.00 mm category whereas retail sellers prefer to trade with below 1.5 mm segment. Retailers view that in the quality segment, the most preferable thickness is 1.3 mm to 1.5 mm.

With the efforts of retailers, carpenters are also taking an interest in the application of acrylic laminate. With growing awareness and a very clear glass appearance, acrylic sheets look attractive and enhance the beauty of furniture.
