India's rapidly growing furniture industry is driving strong demand for furniture and architectural hardware, creating new opportunities for hardware brands and raw material suppliers. The growing use of hinges, handles, tandem boxes, door closers and other fittings, coupled with the mandatory BIS standards for furniture and hardware, is further supporting the sector's organised growth.
Of late, MATECIA 2026, saw the presence of more than 50 companies such as Greenply Samet, Dorset, Labacha, Aldroff, Hardwyn, Thames Hardware, Cassini, Laranza, Roessy, Mochen, Home Care, Fly Bird, E3 and Square One, along with more than 50 others offering hardware products and innovations.
The increasing availability of hardware at retail counters is another key indicator of this growth. While around 50% of plywood, laminate and surface décor counters previously sold hardware, the figure has risen to an estimated 85-90% over the past two years, reflecting the growing integration of hardware with the furniture and wood-panel ecosystem.
As incomes rise, investment in real-estate picked up, India's middle class has been able to invest more in quality home and office furniture. Premium furniture often requires advanced hardware solutions like softclose hinges, hydraulic lift systems, and modular fittings, boosting demand for innovative products. Hence the hardware segment is going to be strengthened further in furniture industry in upcoming years.
