Only decorative plywood supplies do not create its demand but it needs lot of passion, practical knowledge and art of identifying the need of customers and its application sense. Coatings and its applicators are also very much important for this segment growth. That is why the veneer sales are driven by designer fraternity. Hence decorative veneer manufacturers and retailers must continue to Create, Innovate, Promote and Reach out to designers’ fraternity for further growth in this product category.
In last 5 years, we have observed a huge production capacity addition in entire wood panel and surface décor materials be it ply, particle boards, MDF, Decorative laminate, PVC sheets etc. All these categories have posted capacity growth by more than 100 percent. Only the decorative veneer sector has been able to maintain areasonable balanced growth in capacity as well as market. There is no major capacity addition seen in natural veneer segment, although some focused brands in this segment such as Decowood, Timex Veneer, Real ply etc have expanded their capacity but in a decent way. Some new brands have also been launched by manufacturers and traders, but few brands have almost vanished from marketand lost their market share.
If we conclude the market of Decorative Veneer, which is Rs. 2500 crores annually, has registered a decent growth of 10-12 percent year on year despite emergence of many interior surface décor products. The successful veneer brands are maintaining good cash flow, respectable profit margins, goodwill among buyers and consistent innovation in range. They know, how to present the veneer, and what should be the best-selling model.
The emergence of showrooms are one of the drivers of decorative veneer growth. According to Ply reporter findings, there are approx 2500 showrooms presently apart from other 7000 shops selling veneers in India. Although veneer selling needs lots of passion, investments and knowledge, that is why, a showroom owner always challenge others by saying ‘Dare to Sell Veneer’ (VeneerBechKeDikhao)!
Decorative veneer market trend indicates the legacy of this wonderful product, because it is a niche product, natural and conventional décor surface, exclusive surface material and aesthetic appearance.
