The plywood industry including timber suppliers in Uttar Pradesh are facing strict action from the respective authorities after the tight vigil from newly formed state government. The plywood factories are reportedly getting irregular timber supplies due to curb on unauthorised movement of timber from one place to another specially due to crackdown on unlicensed peelings. The timber and log purchases are also being strictly checked and perused to regularise as per Mandi norms reveal timber suppliers in Lucknow, Bareilly, Rampur etc and surrounding regions. The plywood industries located in Bijnore, Sitapur, Lucknow, Bareilly etc region are facing frequent checks for machines as per authorized licenses according to the forest epartment paper. These checks has led to closure of few machines and operation in many areas that were operating on more than their authorised license capacity.
The manufacturers from different parts of Uttar Pradesh are getting used to operate under stricter rules hence they are organising themselves to produce more under their licensed capacity. Following the checks many of the plywood industry owners have further acquired old closed units and have started to install machine seeing the need and opportunity.
There are reports of 20 new presses coming in Uttar Pradesh in next six months as existing UP based companies have acquired them. The leading plywood manufacturers in based in Rampur, Bareilly, Bilaspur, Shahjahapur, Raibaraily etc are gearing up to adopt pre-press and conveyor based manufacturing process to increase productivity as well as quality.
There is timber supply shortage being reported due to some registration formalities demanded by local authorities in UP but it is temporary. Once the timber suppliers are equipped with their due diligence, the plywood industry will be in a smooth stage.
Majority of the plywood manufacturers are appreciating the steps taken by the government and are ready to buy and sell timber as per rules and regulation for a healthy growth. It is noted that Uttar Pradesh has above 230 licensed plywood and veneer units who caters to need of plywood across the country
