Pandemic has not seen much of impact on the growth story of Indian Plywood Panel and Decorative Laminates manufacturing business. According to Ply Reporter findings, Plywood and other panel products manufacturers have been active and on roll even during pandemic. Many of the leading producers and companies, are moving ahead with plans of adding manufacturing capacities of new lines and expansions. The brands such as Greenply, Century Ply, Austin Plywood, Action Tesa, Merino, Green lam, Virgo, Rushil Décor etc along with two dozen mid segment plywood brands are on their way ahead on expansions by putting up new plants. Even small units too are expanding and adopting to set up modern manufacturing facilities during 2021. There are reports of Laminate players are also entering into Plywood manufacturing with big bang.
As per report, Greenply is setting up a new Plywood manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh, whereas Century Ply has announced a new capacity addition of its Plywood capacity in Punjab. A dozen of mid segment plywood brands have been also expanding its plywood manufacturing capacity in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat. As per report, Indian Plywood capacity has been expected to up by 25 % in 2022 seeing the present expansion drive.
Shuttering Plywood sector is also reported to go for capacity addition this year in Haryana and UP. This sector has registered more than 2 dozens of above 20 daylights presses during the last two years and there are further expansions in these categories with a dozen of new 25- 30 daylights presses are going to be installed in Northern India. Shuttering plywood sector also sees a capacity addition of 25 % by year 2022, as per industry reports.
The capacity expansion growth in High Pressure Laminate categories also has been continued as a dozen of new players are entering into manufacturing and many existing producers are going for expansion. As per report, the civil construction work and installation of machineries have been started in 8 new manufacturing establishments in north India whereas 4 in Gujarat and other parts of the country. Concluding the reports, it is estimated a further increase of 15 % in overall capacity of Indian HPL sector by 2022..
