Imported Pine Prices Jump Sharply, Doors/Boards Become Costlier

Friday, 02 July 2021

The high rocketing prices of Imported Pine wood has compelled the Doors and Boards producers to ask high prices of finished materials. As per report, the pine wood prices have reached to Rs 600 per cft, which were around 480 per cft in March month this year. Gandhidham, Gujarat based Doors and Boards producers have been asking 5 to 8 percent more prices to compensate for the increase of timber prices.

As per report from Pine based Flush Doors and Boards producers, they have estimated approx 10 % increase in its input cost due to timber and other chemical prices. They murmur for 10 percent price increase with immediate affect but 5 to 7 percent increase is inevitable in these categories as per report. In India Market, Pine wood-based Boards and Doors are considered as good quality, because the branded and quality doors producers have been endorsing Pinewood as good raw materials, but the recent hike has been compelling these segments to ask to increase prices with immediate effect.

Gandhi Dham based Pine Timber importers say that the prices have been increasing since March month because of high demand of Pine logs in the international market, and high ocean freight have been adding to the cost further. Importers say that the prices of Pine logs would not come down in another 4-5 months because of international demand and surging ocean freight. The report confirmed that there is high demand for pine logs in China, USA and Europe from the beginning of this year, which is a major cause of price increase in India.
