The Indian doors industry is largely fragmented unorganised and having lack of standardization. There are varieties of raw materials available for making of doors in India, e.g Wood, Boards, MDF, WPC/PVC, UPVC, Steel, Aluminium and Glass, but wood based or board based are the most common.

With the residential housing boom in India, the demand for doors would be phenomenal but most manufacturing units are regional, and have limited production capacity. India, yet to set up, an infrastructure, where a company can produce more than 2-5 lakhs sq ft doors every month, such as a Plywood, Particle Boards and MDF manufacturer does in terms of panel manufacturing. Surface beauty have become another important feature for the doors segment, because of the growing charm of beautiful interiors, this industry has opportunities to create a niche in this segment. There are wide range of surface designs available for doors, that defines door category with materials like Laminates, PVC membrane, Decorative Veneers, HDF sheets, Moulded Panel, Digital prints, Foils paste, Coating, Deco Paint, Regular paints etc. Glass doors are mainly for office purposes, and Aluminium doors are known to cater economical grade market demand.

Solution and service also have significant importance for doors, which need to be addressed properly. Door Size is the biggest challenge, the doors producers can fix their sizes offering to convert this sector into standardize and organise industry. Seeing India's housing demand, doors manufacturing would be the most growing furniture basket in future.
