Morbi Based Laminate Industry Keeps on Expansion Road

Morbi, Gujarat has become a hub for Decorative Laminates manufacturing with 40 manufacturing establishments. Report suggests that manufacturing units located in Morbi are upbeat to increase their manufacturing capacity by adding more presses, daylights and new establishments.

Machineries manufacturers confirmed the order of new presses whereas some manufacturers are adding daylights to increase their capacity. There is also a trend seen to set large size presses to cater to the export market.

Parikshit laminate has recently started manufacturing of its large size press in Morbi, and Mr Rajan Patel says that he targets export and domestic market with new units. The group has also acquired laminate units recently. Rangoli Laminate group has started the production of its new units where they have set up two presses, among one is of large size to export market. Welmica group is setting up a huge manufacturing unit of laminate in Morbi with the vision to set up 4 presses of different sizes. Mr. Ravi Adroja of Welmica says that he recently ordered two press lines and he expects to start in next year but he is setting up infrastructure to produce 5 lakhs sheets per month. Nelson laminate is also going to set up a new manufacturing unit in Morbi.

Recently two new laminates units in Morbi have started production in November and December. Sources say that the many expansions in Morbi on card, which will be announced shortly, but the Morbi laminates industry has reached half a century in number of presses.

It is noted that Morbi based manufacturers mainly focus on the West and South based market because of their good service and supply. Due to the hub of tiles manufacturing, they have an advantage over the supply of materials to these markets in minimum time. Mr Atul Patel, Director, Bell laminat says that better service, illustrious working and good design innovation has been helping Morbi based HPL unit to sustain and grow further in the laminate industry, and they are going to add more lines in 2025.
