Uttar Pradesh Plywood Manufacturing Welfare Association organised a meet of wood based industrialists with theme ' Udyog, Kisan and Niryatak Connect'  on 13th April, 2025 at the auditorium, IIT Roorkee Campus, Saharanpur. The program was presided over by Mr Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh along with the presence of officials from Invest UP and industry stakeholders namely, Ashok Aggarwal, President, UP-PMWA, Mr Naresh Tiwari, Chairman AIPMA, Indrajeet Singh Sohal, President, Punjab Plywood Manufacturing Association, Mr JK Bihani, President, Haryana Plywood Manufacturing Association, Industrialist Vimal Chopra, Sanjeev Gupta, Amit Goyal, Himanshu Chawla, Narendra Bansal, Mr Baldev Singh and many other industrialists from UP, Punjab and Haryana.

Emphasizing the significance of Uttar Pradesh with respect to its capacity of  producing timber and area available for cultivation, Mr Manoj underscored, “Given its vast area, Uttar Pradesh has no competition with neighbouring states, Punjab and Haryana which is why,, the state has long been supplying timber to Yamunnagar based wood panel industries after developing an expertise in plantation timber."

“Therefore, if timber from UP can yield profitable plywood  business in Yamunanagar, there is no reason to disbelieve that investment in the regions like Saharanpur can offer huge returns,“ added the Chief Secretary.

Mr Ashok Aggarwal informed that the business ecosystem in Saharanpur is quite favorable and supportive for industrialists owing to the unreserved cooperation of govt officials, hence   the prospect of thriving plywood business in UP is very likely. However UP govt needs to keep a watch on the GST related irregularities in billing of timber dispatched to other states from timber traders in UP.
