All India Decorative Veneer Manufacturers Association has announced a price hike of Rs 2 per sq ft with immediate effect. Mr Manish Kedia, President of Association said that seeing the high prices of different raw materials due to high dollar and labour cost, the decorative veneer producers has unanimously decided to increase the prices in a meeting held in Delhi.
Association members said that they import the raw materials such as veneer flitches, logs, etc from different overseas countries, hence high dollar prices against rupee has pushed up the input cost of raw materials. Member also has viewed that the manpower cost has been increased very much high, which has added extra operational cost, hence they have no option to pass this high input cost to market.
Decorative Veneer is a high end product, consumed by luxury interior segment; the manufacturers of such as capital intensive product are obliged to pass on the burden on production cost to reserve their margins. In the wake of such hard pressed situation, they seek the support of the channel partners.
