A plywood factory, located in the Baikampady Industrial Area was reported to have been set ablaze on 4th January, Sunday morning, resulting in destruction of plywood worth approximately Rs 1 crore.

As per the report, the fire was reportedly triggered by the short circuit at the Akolite Industrial System Pvt Ltd. In response to the unfortunate incident, Four fire tenders of the Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF), the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) and the fire brigade were sent to the factory and the personnel successfully doused the flames.

As per local administration and Police, no casualty has been reported but loss of raw material and wooden material is significant because being a wood panel factory, the building is likely to hold highly inflammable material in the inventory.
