Ply-Boards and Door Manufacturers from different states of the country were present in this historical gathering that was aimed to bring changes and adopt organised work culture in plywood industry and trade. Delegates and office bearers of state associations like NIPMA, SIPMA, HPMA, PPMA, UPPMA, UTPMA, Kerala PMA, Karnataka PMA, RPMA, Delhi-NCR PMA, Gujarat and Bihar PMA were present in large numbers at the meeting. Sri Vikas Khanna, President and Sri Manish Kedia, Vice President, Mr. Amrit Goyal, Gen Secretary along with other members of Delhi-NCR PMA organized the first of its kind meeting where more than 200 ply board manufacturers were together for deciding burning issues after GST. The All India Plywood manufacturers discussed the points like impact of GST on cost of raw materials, provision of input on timber and labor etc and hence the new price structure to be charged from the market. The meeting also discussed the point of informal working of various SSI in plyboards manufacturing and how to pursue GST committee to lower the GST from 28 percent to 18 percent as plywood produced in India is largely a agro based timber product and keeping under highest tax slab of 28 percent is a burden and death knell for small sized manufacturers as well as plantation growers.
It was concluded in the all India plywood manufacturers meeting that on Ply, Boards and Doors, the new list will be Basic price + GST price. The second conclusion was made that there won’t be any price reduction on basiclevels from present status. The all India meeting also decided that there should a formation of a committee to work on a serious matter of “how to approach government to reduce GST from 28 to 18 percent in ways to safeguard the small and medium scale industry in
coming time.” There was also a common consensus on formation of all India Plywood Manufacturers Association for which Mr Naresh Tiwari has been selected as Chairman and Mr Devender Chawla as President unanimously by the present gathering of more than 200 plyboards manufacturers. The office bearers of the association shall be elected by the Chairman and President in consent with other states associations. Association members followed by welcome note of Mr. Surendra Arora, MD, Virgo Group. The marathon meeting of 6 hours was well hosted by Mr. Pragath Dvivedi, Chief Editor of The Ply Reporter magazine. The office bearers and members of Delhi-NCR Plywood Manufacturers Association such as Mr. Vikas Khanna (President), Mr Manish Kedia (Vice President), Mr Prakash Khetawat, Mr. Alok Agarwal, Mr Amrit Goyal, Mr. Chabra, Mr. Manish etc heartily welcomed all the dignitaries, which was well appreciated by all delegated attended the meeting.
