On 3rd march 2019, Uttar Pradesh government issued licenses to about 1350 new plywood and wood based industries in the state, which had brought cheer to plywood machinery suppliers and manufacturers. Within a month of announcement of new license, the machinery supplying companies, mainly of Hot Press, Peeling Machines, Boilers, Driers, Calibrators, Veneer Core Composers, DD saw, Handling system, etc. had planned tour to UP, looking for those entrepreneurs, who have been granted new license of plywood, peeling units, etc.
As per reports from machinery suppliers, they have successfully taken about 50 more orders of Hot Presses, Veneer Core Composers, Driers, Boilers, Calibrators etc. The investors were seemed to be in hurry to start their manufacturing establishments and they were more interested in those machinery suppliers, who were ready to supply their machines in a very short period of time. As per reports, more than a dozen of civil work projects have started construction and new enterprises have set their deadline to begin commercial production as soon as possible.
But the queries by National Green Tribunal (NGT) to challenge the process of granting provisional licences for establishment to about 1350 new plywood and wood based industries in state, has shocked all stake holders, mainly the machinery suppliers and manufacturers.
As per reports, all machinery supplying companies such Sri Chakra, Ambica, Kalyan Eng, HR Industries, CTC, Star Peeling, Woodtech, Darshan, L M Eng, B S Eng, etc have received orders in their respective machines categories in different districts of UP, but the NGT order to status quo, has spoiled their investment and planning. In a petition filed in the NGT, the UP Forest Department has been accused of misrepresenting the quantity of wood available in the state.
