How did you come into PVC laminate business operations?
We were amongst the first ones in India to import PVC laminates in 2013.We visited more than 5/6 factories which were making PVC pipes and we developed this product in China.It took us almost 4-5 months to develop and launch this product in India. We started with around 50 colours and this was a completely new concept in the Indian market. We did carpenter training in more than 20 cities in India, to teach them how to bend this 90 degree & make the laminate seamless.
How do you see the future of PVC laminate in India?
It is wonderful surface material; hence its future seems to grow at around 10% annually.
There is limitation with PVC Laminate’s application. What do you say?
Yes agreed, PVC laminate usage is very less compared to regular laminates. The product has its own limitation.
What have the recent developments in the last two year?
UV veneer market is growing now along with texture PVC laminates.
According to you why should a customer choose PVC laminates?
It has many features such as 90 degreebend, high gloss, various finishes, sparkle effect, etc. Apart, it is economical, which are major factors for the growth of PVC laminates.
In PVC laminate segment small capacity plants are many. How it is beneficial or disadvantageous?
Investment is not much to run PVC manufacturing unit, also the production is fast. One line can easily produce 1,000 sheets/day (25,000 sheets month). As investment & process of manufacturing is simple the competition will keep on growing in this product.
Architects and OEMs are not much fascinated or aware about using PVC laminates. What is your view?
This is a pure retail product & not a project product. It is mainly used in kitchen and shutters.
There are a number of application aches, what is your view?
Most of the issues are application related, once the product is damaged due to improper installation, the blame goes to the product. There are many videos available on You Tube & Facebook to give proper guidelines for perfect installation of this product.
