High Density Moisture Resistant MDF Boards have emerged as the fastest growing wood panel, which have been aggressively taking share of Plywood and PVC/WPC Boards for many interior applications, mainly water prone areas. The high cost of PVC/WPC boards has given a good chance to take its share and improve demand. As per market report, many OEMs and contractors have been shifted to these products, who previously use to apply PVC Boards. Ply reporter data point to high trajectory growth, High Density Moisture Resistant MDF Boards have registered a growth of more than 25 percent year on year. But, the growing demand of this product has resulted in less availability of materials.

Recent survey by the Ply Reporter Team indicates that this material has become a ‘hotcake’ of wood panel products because there are reports of less supply than demand. Dealers say that there is a 45 to 60 days waiting period of these materials to the companies because of good demand in the market. Tesa HDHMR boards are the leader in this segment, and very popular among users followed by Greenpanel HDWR and Century Prowud Premium Plus. There are other MDF companies such as Crossbond, Pioneer Panels, Adler wood etc are also offering these materials. As per report, most of the companies have pending orders of this product of at least 30 days, although these product categories also noted more than 25 percent price increase in a year.

Expert also say that the big companies with continuous press lines are little hesitant to produce High Density Moisture Resistant MDF Boards because their capacity utilisation is impacted if compared to regular MDF boards. Hence if they have good orders of MDF, they have skipped to switch their production to special categories boards, hence there is limitation of production of these boards. Whereas 200-250 cbm companies areallocating30 to 40 percent of their production for making HD+MR grade boards, but the robust demand of these boards have created a pendency in the market, that does not seems to be slowing any time soon.
