How do you see the market scenario after Covid gets at ease?
The market scenario is positive now. The demand scenario is getting better day by day, although it has not reached the pre covid level, but the recovery is good and has reached to almost 80 percent.
What impact do you see on sales after the prices are going up and down sometimes?
The prices are fluctuating very heavily which is confusing the customers. The customers need material and they choose a certain product then they hold out of the unavailability of the budget, due to which the sales realization drops and a lot of issues arise before the retailers to convince them. But, those who have to have their work done anyhow are moving forward with any price. Actually, they have no option. Sometimes they reduce quantity and quality if the budget is getting tighter.
In that condition, how the business of a dealer is getting affected?
In that case, what quantity of material should be sold is not happening now. People are compromising, where the veneer is required people are using laminate, and where laminated were used are being painted in colors.
Do you think that the sales at any counter have reduced with such compromises?
In general, if we observe we can find a 30% drop in sales. In that case, the dealers’ margin has almost gone, because every dealer wants to have their client intact with them and work goes on. So, they are dealing amicably. Secondly, the competition is high which is also eating up the margin. For example laminate and louvers, the competition is very high.
Those who are having fair dealing, and focus on product sales at a reasonable price will be able to sustain because the client has a lot of options in the market. This is not that the client will come back easily after having a market survey; actually, they have a lot of other material options. They will shift to them.
In this process what changes do you see in the market?
The market movement is almost similar, but the payment scenario has changed and all the transactions are being happened in cash only. We have also adopted the same and the credit system is almost closed. Its reason is that we are also not getting any perk in this direction from the manufacturers. Their dealing is also tighter on cash. This is a positive change.
In this way which types of dealers will sustain in the market?
Those who are having fair dealing, and focus on product sales at a reasonable price will be able to sustain because the client has a lot of options in the market. This is not that the client will come back easily after having a market survey; actually, they have a lot of other material options. They will shift to them.
So, what is your message to the dealers, manufacturers and suppliers?
I think if everything is fair that would be better for all because seeing the market scenario everything should be kept in mind, and the client should also not suffer in that way. I think the market will be positive ahead.
