State Level Committee (SLC) in J&K has approved 213 new licenses for Wood Based Industries. The decision has been taken in the meeting of the committee chaired by the PCCF and Head of Forest Force, Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Mohit Gera held at Jammu on 22 February, 2022. There only 213 applications were placed before the SLC by APCCF (Kashmir) T. Rabi Kumar and all of them have been approved.
The applications for approval were included 73 Cricket Bat Units and 8 Plywood/Veneer Units along with Saw Mill units. These units are mainly located in Pulwama and Anantnag districts of Kashmir. SLC approved 8 applications for setting up plywood and veneer units in Srinagar circle. Thus far 143 licenses have been issued for setting up plywood and veneer units in Kashmir.
The information given to the media, Dr. Mohit Gera also informed that the government is contemplating to prepare a draft called Jammu and Kashmir Wood Based Industry (Establishment and Regulation) Rules to provide more convenience to the wood based industry in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting Mr Sanjay Sinha, APCCF (Central); Mr Vasu Yadav, Managing Director, J&K Forest Development Corporation; Mr Brij Mohan Sharma, Additional PCCF, Jammu; Mr Tauheed Ahmed Dewa, Conservator of Forests; Mr Mahmood Ahmad Shah, Director Industries and Commerce, Kashmir and representatives of all Conservators of Forests and IRO, Jammu of Kashmir region were present.
