Yamunanagar Plywood Industries to Shut Down the Boilers for a Week

Wednesday, 20 July 2022

The executive committee of HPMA (Haryana Plywood Manufacturers Association) has decided to shut down the boiler from July 21  to  25, 2022 due to the nonmovement of heavy load trucks during Kawad Yatra in the state. This means that production in plywood factories will be nearly halted over the next five days. According to the President of HPMA, Mr. J.K. Bihani, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the orders of the administration to keep the Lakkar Mandi closed from July 14 to 27 July, in view of the upcoming Kavad Yatra.

In fact, every year in the month of Shravan, the movement of heavy vehicles remains closed due to the Kavad Yatra. He also said that at present the prices of wood are also touching the sky because there is a severe shortage of available timber, so this decision will curb the tendency to buy at higher prices and will also help in balancing the demand-supply in the market.

According to the report, there has been a high jump in the rate of timber in the last 20 days, and production in factories has been reduced by almost half due to the lack of arrivals of timber of higher girth. The industry players believe that the scarcity of timber will persist this year. In the current rainy season, the availability of timber is likely to worsen due to less felling of trees as the agriculture labour involved remains more in crop farming.
