As OEMs are gaining ground in the eastern region especially in states like Odisha & West Bengal the demand for HD plus MR MDF panels has shot up in these regions. The high density panels are preferred by modular furniture makers and OEMs, particularly in Kitchen furniture, knockdown furniture, office/ commercial interiors etc. The introduction of the latest machines like CNC routers has further accentuated the demand of HDMR, prelaminated boards.and other value added panel products.
In Odisha & West Bengal, since the demand for branded products is higher than non-branded and generic panel products. The culture of ready-to-move-in offices, retail outlets with low-cost modular furniture and interior decoration is also gaining popularity. The solid wood and plywood have been slowly falling out of general preference, because of cost and long timeline in fit-and-finishes, compared to MDF.
Hence high density products, offered by branded entities are likely to drive the market growth in near future. Many top plywood companies are eyeing to establish their MDF plant in Orissa and other eastern regions which will also create a market for high density MDF.
