Film Face Plywood manufacturing facility in North India is witnessing capacity addition with more hitech technology addition, volume production, modern machines, R&D and better layout for work flow. A number of Yamunanagar based producers are installing high capacity manufacturing presses of 24 daylights supported with automatic loading – unloading system for smooth work flow. Reports from machinery manufacturers confirm that 4 such units are going to set up in Yamunanagar of 24 daylights hydraulic presses with automatic loading – unloading system, which can produce approximately 6.5 lac square feet material per month. Apart from these, half a dozen film face plywood units are getting installed with ranging from 12 to 15 daylights.

Besides Yamunanagar, 4 units are reported to install in Uttar Pradesh for Film face plywood manufacturing, in which one is having 20 daylights. The Ply Reporter estimates that more than 25 trucks of film face plywood manufacturing capacity per month is going to add in North India in coming 4 to 5 months. Manufacturers are upbeat with potential growth of film face plywood in future because they feel that the Government is spending more funds in infrastructure development in India, which will drive the growth of film faced ply demand. They also assert the growth of housing sector because the Government has mission to provide ‘Housing for All’ before 2022 and to develop Smart cities plan. Manufacturers say that film face plywood production seems more hassle free as compared to general purpose plywood because sizes and thickness are same along with no variation in raw materials and resin. Film faced ply manufacturing also saves man power cost, which is always a challenge for this industry.

It is noted that North India, comprising Haryana, Punjab, UT, Rajasthan and UP is major producer of Film faced plywood in India, which contributes approx 85% of total country needs. Yamunanagar in Haryana alone feeds approximately 55% requirement of shuttering plywood in India, share of which is expected to increase further.
