Growth in India’s High Pressure Laminate production capacity has maintained its track record even this year. With report to add number of presses in North India and Gujarat, the production capacity is estimated to touch 40 million sheets per month. As per report, 25 to 30 HPL manufacturing presses are going to commence its commercial production this year. Stylam Industries is starting its commercial production in its new units in first quarter of FY, which the company claims as the Asia’s biggest HPL manufacturing establishment, having capacity of 10 million sheets per annum. Merino is also setting up new manufacturing establishment in Dahej, Gujarat, which is supposed to start commercial production shortly. Brands like Greenlam, Century laminates and Archidlam are also expanding capacity by installing new lines.
These apart, number of medium and small level manufacturers are either expanding or entering into High Pressure laminate production in North India and Gujarat. Morbi based Abhey laminates and Highborn Laminates have recently started commercial production, where as Damas Laminate in Himmatnagar and Edge Laminates in Gandhidham will announce production in second quarter. Two new units are going to set up in Punjab and 3 in Haryana. Bahardurgarh, Haryana located Trikalp Laminates will start production by next month. There are new lines reported in Uttar Pradesh also, where Vibrant Laminate has started production in Lucknow, where as Ghaziabad based Advance laminate is going add one more line. Two more new lines are reported to set up Uttar Pradesh this year, where as 5 to 6 plywood producers in North India are planning to enter into High Pressure laminates production and they will soon give orders for machinery and will target to launch product by end of this year.
North India is emerging as a sound laminate manufacturing hub,next to being a plywood manufacturing hub as well, where more than 20 new players have entered into HPL manufacturing. Most of them are catering to economical grade laminate demand of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal etc. Some North India players are catering to economical grade demand of West and South markets, including laminated door skin.
