Speaking with The Ply Reporter, Mr Sarvesh Agarwal, Director of the company said, “Our Roorkee Plywood Plant was not in operation since 2013 and we have decided to dispose of the entire Plant and set up the new facility at our Pantnagar location itself. The decision for setting up of Plywood Plant and not restarting the Plant at Roorkee was based on several technical considerations to ensure that the quality of Plywood produced by Shirdi is not only best but also consistent in spite of large production capacity”.
Elaborating the specialities of his Plywood produced at Pantnagar, he said, “To produce good quality Plywood you need to have good quality Core, Face & proper Resin. You also need to fix process parameters and process flow to prevent production of poor quality or inconsistency in production of good quality of Plywood. As plywood is highly labour oriented operations to achieve consistency in process parameters and process flow is toughest challenge in manufacturing of Plywood. You can have best of the machines and raw material but to achieve good quality production you cannot afford to have anything improper in process also.
“To ensure that the best quality Plywood is manufactured by Shirdi following stringent steps will be taken by the Company such as Entire Core will be produced by the company through own Peeling set up for which company has been already granted Licence by Forest Department.
No Falli shall be used by the company. The Core produced by the Company shall be calibrated to prevent thickness variations. Entire Core shall be first converted into Mat of 8x4 size by Core composer or taping. No loose Core shall be used. We have appointed highly experienced persons for Resin formulation. The pressing will comprise of 3 stages. Cold Pressing, Hot Pressing (without face) to produce MAT ply, Pressing Mat Ply with face, Entire production will have 2 stages of sanding (First for Mat Ply followed by Plywood with Face), Finishing operations of Plywood shall be completed on Mat Ply and Face ply both, We will use best quality face. And High quality sanding machines to achieve uniform thickness shall be used. With all above we believe there is no room for production of poor quality Plywood”, he added further.
