The Film face plywood producers have increased the prices of shuttering plywood up to Rs.1.00-1.50 per sq. during April. Sharp rise in Phenol, Fuel and timber prices had impacted the input cost of film faced plywood manufacturing.
The North region is major producer of film faced shuttering plywood, which contributes 70 percent of India’s demand. On 13th April, 2018 a group of film faced shuttering plywood producers called an urgent meeting at Yamuna Nagar and decided to increase the prices by Rs. 2 per sqft with immediate effect to partially offset the increase in prices of timber and chemicals.
The market sources confirmed to The Ply Reporter’s correspondent about the increase prices and hinted that it was increased from 3 to 5 percent depend of on company wise. A dealer from Lucknow
said that the price hike in commercial grade film faced plywood were very marginal whereas phenolic grade shuttering prices went up by 3 to 4 % in market.
Mean time the demand for film faced shuttering plywood has improved considerably thanks to increasing activities in construction sector. Reports suggested that construction activities led by mainly government funded projects are on full swing.The activities of building under ‘Housing for All’ and other urban development projects are also helping fil face shuttering plywood demand. According to study during FY 17-18, film face shuttering plywood segment has seen an arrival of approximately 55 new hot presses that has led to big boost in production capacity film faced shuttering plywood in India.
