The Indian Plywood industry has been rapidly accepting the new technology of plywood manufacturing to offer high quality products as per changing customer’s requirements. As per report, many mid segment brands have been in process of installing core composer, calibrators, 8’ Glue Spreaders, Auto DD saw to produce high quality plywood, which should be uniform thickness, zero gap, better elasticity, rapture and tensile strength.
As per report, a dozen new Plywood manufacturing units in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat and Southern India have recently shifted its entire production to calibrated plywood with commissioning of new machines, and technology. Report also indicates that there are approx 55 plywood manufacturing units that have adopted new technology in the last 2-3 years, and claim to produce Calibrated plywood with uniform thickness of matt plywood technology. It is also reported that another 12 manufacturing units are working in this direction, and they have ordered for Calibrators, Core Composers, Core Jointers, 8ft Glue Spreaders etc, which they expect to commission in another 6 to 8 months. As per Machinery suppliers, there would be 100 plywood manufacturing establishments for Calibrated Plywood manufacturing by 2023.
Plywood manufacturers feel that India would need more Calibrated Plywood in future because there is a shift in carpentry and artisan work to machine works. The carpenters are now using modern machines for cutting of plywood, thus, the use of calibrated plywood would grow in future. It is also noted that a volume of such plywood has been imported from China, Russia, Indonesia etc, and with growing production in India, the consumers can get domestic products with good quality.
