The lockdown in the second wave had not impacted building construction activities because many state governments had allowed working with taking care of all safety norms. As per report, governmentbased projects, infrastructural works, real estate projects; housing activities were reported to continue their work during April, May and June months despite the lockdown. Some projects, which were approaching to its completion, didn’t wish to delay because they feared to increase cost burden if they would delay further.

The reports say that the continuation of real estate, housing and infrastructural projects have been helping many products such as Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP), Shuttering Plywood, Glass, Steel, Paints demand in May and June month. Shuttering Plywood manufacturing had reported to continue its production to 60 percent level in May month, and similar reports came from the ACP industry.

The reports from government related bodies such as NBCC, NFCC, Metro Railway, PWD, CPWD, Railways, Airport Authority of India, MIS, Road transport sectors, etc found that they had continued its work for completion of many projects during May-June Month. The increasing government spending with a fix deadline had been helping the demand of many building material products in this difficult time, where retail demand had impacted more.

Experts also see good demand for Flush Doors, Laminated Doors, Wooden Flooring, High Moisture Grade HDF Boards, Calibrated Plywood, PVC Edge Band Tape in these projects in June-July month. The brands, which are specified in Government projects, would be benefited in future because of increasing government spending in the infrastructure sector.
