Plywood producers in North demand price rise, Associations issue recommendations

AIPMA announces a price rise of Rs 3 per sq ft in 12 mm densified plywood

The All India Plywood Manufacturers' Association (AIPMA) announced a price rise of Rs 3 per sq ft in 12 mm Densified Shuttering Plywood with immediate effect after the meeting of stakeholders held on January 9, 2024. The detailed discussions were held in respect of the tremendous increase in the prices of Eucalyptus, formaldehyde, and phenol, the increase in the moisture of timber and fuel, and its impact on cost of production.

The letter in terms of densified plywood manufacturers was issued after the meeting held in Yamunanagar, Haryana, under the chairmanship of AIPMA President Mr. Davender Chawla. It informs valued traders and customers that the decisions were taken unanimously for the survival of the industry. Keeping in view the acute shortage of wood and the tremendous increase in prices of all raw materials, chemicals, fuel, etc., and to cover up the increase in the cost of production, it was unanimously decided to increase the selling price for all variants, i.e., MR Grade, MUF Grade, and PF Grade, with immediate effect. No order will be accepted at the old rates.

Also, a five-member committee was constituted to collect information on defaulted parties and circulate their names and addresses amongst members, to look after delayed payments, to curb the practice of movement of goods without proper documents, GST matters, etc. The association expected that the valued customers would cooperate in the present scenario, as earlier.

The Bengaluru Plywood Manufacturers Association announced price rise of Plywood by 5% and Block Board and Flush Door by 3%

A discussion was held regarding the issues faced over the past few months, industries are facing a sharp increase in rates of Timber round logs, Electricity charges and Labour costs which have increased by almost 15 to 20% all across.

Under the circumstances, BPMA have unanimously agreed and have taken the following decisions to increase the rates as below.

• To increase the rates of Plywood by 5% with immediate effect.
• Block Board and Flush Door to be increased in rates by 3% with immediate effect.

BPMA also advised to do all transactions with immediate payment terms and for distributers the credit terms to be limited to 15 days only.

Bareilly-based plywood manufacturers announced a price rise by 5%

Plywood Manufacturers’ Association, Bareilly also issued a letter on 8th January, 24 to increase the price by 5% due to recent challenges regarding the shortage of eucalyptus timber and raw material crisis, leading to a significant increase in its price. Consequently, to sustain the commitment to provide quality products the price rise has been announced.

 

The letter says that the eucalyptus timber is specially chosen because it's really good at staying safe from borers and termites. “The other options that are available due to imported core have wood that has lesser density and is not 100% safe from termite,” it says. The Bareilly Plywood Manufacture Association takes pride in using locally sourced eucalyptus having guarantees resilience against borers and termites, ensuring the durability of products.
