Decorative Laminates: 3rd Price increase coming

Saturday, 06 March 2021

With melamine over Rs 200 kg, print base paper unavailability and uncertainity looming over phenol, craft paper and formaldehyade in past 10 days, Decorative Laminate Manufacturers are mulling options to announce price increase for 3rd time in last 3 months.

The 3rd rise is here to be announced soon by laminate clusters like Ahmedabad, Morbi, Delhi NCR, Yamuna Nagar and Baraily regions, in next 2 to 3 days. With such scenario, even a 4th rise cant be ruled out, if raw material availability remains so fragile and supply chain broken.

According to Ply Reporter feed, most of the semi organised Laminate companies have opted to curtail production to 1 shift, whereas many SME' units are considering temporary shutdown. There is also scarcity of Melamine and Base paper reported by industry players, leading to which running the plant is no more poasible. The expected price increase being consideree is as below.

Decorative Laminates:

1mm - Rs 45 to 50
0.8mm- Rs 30 to 35
Liner- Rs 20 to 25.
