The imposition of Anti Dumping Duty on import of Aluminium Coils has opened an opportunity to Indian Aluminium Composite Panels producers to speed up installation of more coating lines locally. As per report, there are at least a dozen of ACP producers, who are looking to install Coating lines for their captive use. It has also become a needed line, if a company wishes to give new designs frequently with good quality standard to the markets.
Earlier there was a myth that coating lines are not operational and viable in the country as imports are easy and economical. But last two years of covid has hit hard the supply chain that delayed shipments and flow of coated coil for Indian ACP producers. So far India has 7 -8 coating lines that are installed so far. After Covid and imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty on import of Aluminium Coils from China, another 6-7 ACP manufacturing companies are working to put coating lines for better out flow of material supply.
The companies like Aludecor and Alstrong have been running coating machines for their uses. Since there is no focused coil producer in the country, there has been a vacuum for coating lines that are doing work for open markets and other ACP producers. After entry of Viva bond in coating line space, this section is now in preference. It is reported that Viva bond is eying the coated coil supply to Indian markets with further addition of a couple of new lines in next six months. Eurobond ACP is also under process of putting up a new coating line facility.
Few of ACP manufacturer acknowledge that coating lines have become need for the further growth in this segment. North India based ACP producers have also begun to explore the coating line viability to improve products quality, smooth supply and better realisation in future.
