National capital is facing sealing problems for last few months which seems to have destroyed Delhi based trading activity including the plywood and wood panel trade. Due to sealing the traders, manufacturers and businessmen from plywood fraternity continue to remain in fear and uncertainty. Many wood based units and warehouse has been sealed by government officials situated in mix used land of Delhi. The operation of such wood based factories has been closed. Many people lost the employments and owner of such closed and sealed factories are in high stress.
Narendra Gupta, President of Paharganj new timber market association said that due to sealing the plywood market of Delhi badly affected and destroyed and the traders are facing these problems due to wrong policies of government. Due to slow down in real estate market and such other issues, the plywood market of Delhi was suffering many problems in the past and after that the sealing has broken-down the business.
Sumesh Goyal, Vice President of Association said that, many plywood factories have been closed in Bavana industrial area because of sealing in Delhi. Many factories also sealed in Nilothi area too out of which 100-150 units are related to furniture manufacturing including a half dozen are related to plywood manufacturing. Business has totally disturbed. Goyal says, government allows us to set up the table cutter units but in other hand denies us to wood polishing.
The Ply Reporter finding suggests that ‘on an average 30 - 35 % fall in sales volumes has been recorded by different clusters and market that are located in the Delhi capital region. Taking a benefit to this the business in NCR is benefiting but the impact is too slow and scattered to be written as confirmed as of now.
